A good quality of a true believer is that they are patient when things are tough or they face problems, and they thank Allah when they are happy. There’s no doubt that every difficulty and problem believers face is a sign of Allah’s wisdom. Even if we don’t understand the wisdom right away, remembering that being patient during these tough times earns us countless rewards is a great wisdom in itself. This is truly a pearl of amazing wisdom.

Today, the unusual increase in heat because of weather changes also has many of Allah’s “wisdoms” hidden behind it. This intense heat not only encourages us to practice the great act of worship called patience, but it also makes a believer think more about the Afterlife. It reminds us that if we find this small heat in the world so difficult, how much worse will the scorching heat of the Day of Judgment and the terrible fire of Hell be, something we can’t even imagine.
This intense heat encourages believers to do good deeds and helps them stay away from sins. It makes people who are too busy with worldly things and have forgotten the Afterlife think: “If I can’t handle this small heat in the world today, how will I bear the terrible heat of the Day of Judgment and the dangerous fire of Hell tomorrow?” So, they start preparing to save themselves from that heat.

Things to Do in Summer:
1.Never complain or say bad things about the heat, or about the weather, because it comes from Allah.
2.Arrange for ‘Salat-ul-Istisqa’ (prayer for rain) and humbly pray to Allah for rain.
3.Instead of repeatedly saying phrases like “It’s so hot,” if you just say the following words three times:

” اللھم اجرنی من النار “
( “O Allah, save me from the Fire.”) Then Hell will say: “O Allah, save this person from Hell.” 1

4.Don’t become lazy in doing good deeds just because of the heat. Instead, use this short and temporary heat to prepare well to save yourself from the harshest, everlasting heat. This is smart and what Allah wants.

5.When you feel lazy about doing good deeds, remember this verse:

قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرًّا ۚ لَّوْ كَانُوا يَفْقَهُونَ
“Say, ‘The Fire of Hell is much hotter.’ If only they understood.” 2

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“One dip into Hell will make a person forget all the pleasures of the world.” 3

He also said:

“This fire of the world is just one-seventieth part of the fire of Hell.” This means the heat of Hell’s fire is 69 times more intense than the world’s fire. 4

  1. Protect yourself from the mistake of calling this heat merely a “global environmental change” and downplaying it as a test or punishment from Allah.
  2. Be kind and easy on your employees during this time, and hope for reward from Allah.
  3. Make sure to help your Muslim brothers and sisters who are struggling with the heat.
May Allah grant us the ability to act on this. Ameen.
