First Sermon:

All praise is due to Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), who accepts the repentance of His slaves, and removes their sins, and His mercy and knowledge are over all things. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), the One, the Irresistible. Nothing in the heavens and the earth can foil Him, and I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the servant of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) and His Messenger ﷺ. Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) supported him ﷺ through personal help and miracles.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! send Durood and Salaam and shower blessings upon your servant and messenger, Muhammad ﷺ, and upon his descendants, and his companions.

After Hamd-o-Salam: Pursue piety, seek nearness to Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) through His favored deeds. Stay away from deeds that cause Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)’s wrath. Surely the pious will prosper and the followers of desires will be doomed.

O Servants of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Take into consideration! The well-being of man is in controlling his nafs, so it is necessary to take full control of the nafs in every small and big work consisting of every word and deed. Therefore, he who has complete control over his nafs, and his words and deeds is according to the pleasure of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), has attained great success.

Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination. [40] Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge. [41][Surah An-Naziaat: 40-41]

Then Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens. [46][Surah Ar-Rahman: 46]

Furthermore, He (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

O you who have believed, fear Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ). And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow – and fear Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ). Indeed, Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) is Acquainted with what you do.
[Surah Al-Hashr: 18]

Indeed, those who fear Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) – when an impulse touches them from Satan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight.
[Surah Al-A’raf: 201]

And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].
[Surah Al-Qiyama: 2]

The commentators say: Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) has sworn by a nafs that blames itself for the reduction of obligations and repents for committing insensible haraam deeds so much that the nafs rectifies itself.

Prophet ﷺ said:

“He who believes in Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) and the Last Day speaks good or remains silent.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)

This cannot be done without self-accountability.

Prophet ﷺ said:

“The wise man is the one who takes account of himself and strives for that which is after death. And the helpless man is the one who follows his own whims then indulges in wishful thinking about Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ).”
(This Hadith is Hasan)

Umar Bin Al-Khattab (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said:
“Bring yourself to account before you are taken to account; Weigh your deeds before your deeds are weighed and prepare yourselves for great presentation.”

Maimoon Bin Mehran (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said:
“A pious man calls himself to account tougher than a partner does to his miser partner.”

Abdullah ibn Masood (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said:
“A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain which, he is afraid, may fall on him; whereas the wicked person considers his sins as flies passing over his nose and he just drives them away like this (moved his hand over his nose in illustration).” Narrated by Bukhari

The believer maintains his nafs in good state while maintaining self-accountability, so he performs acts of worship and obedience in the most perfect form, which are full of sincerity and free from innovation, hypocrisy and selfishness. He seeks the pleasure of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) and the better hereafter through his good deeds.

The believer follows the path of Sunnah of Prophet ﷺ with obliging good deeds by endeavoring self-accountability.

Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

And those who strive for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) is with the doers of good.
[Surah Al-Ankabut: 69]

He (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) is free from need of the worlds.
[Surah Al-Ankabut: 6]

Furthermore, He (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), then follow me, [so] Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) is Forgiving and Merciful.”
[Surah Aal-e-Imran: 31]

Sufyan At’thauri (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said: “I did not treat anything more than my intention because it changes within a moment.”

Fadl Bin Ziyad (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said: I asked from Imam Ahmad (Rahimullah) about intention in action. He said: “Be cautious of your nafs when performing an action, that it doesn’t lead to pleasing the people.”

The Prophet Muhammed ﷺ said:

“The one who prays and wants people to see them has committed shirk. The one who fasted and they want the people to know about their fasting has committed shirk. The one who gave sadaqah (charity) and wants people to know about their charity has committed shirk.”
(Ahmad, Hakim and Tabrani)

The believer also takes care of his speech, so he keeps his tongue in check from prohibited speech, he should remember that the two angels are writing his every word, so he will be compensated for every deed he has done.

Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers, [10] Noble and recording, [11] They know whatever you do. [12][Surah Al-Infitaar:10-12]

He(عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].
[Surah Qaaf: 18]

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“A slave (of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)) may utter a word which pleases Allah without giving it much importance, and because of that Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) will raise him to degrees (of reward): a slave (of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)) may utter a word (carelessly) which displeases Allah without thinking of its gravity and because of that he will be thrown into the Hell-Fire.”
(Bukhari)

Ibn Mas’ud (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said: “By Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. No one on earth is entitled to a longer imprisonment than the tongue.”

Abu Bakar (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) used to say by grabbing his tongue: “It has brought me so much trouble.”

It is obligatory for every Muslim to do audit of his nafs, with facing the doubts and suspicions that come to his heart, because good or evil begins with the thoughts that come to heart. Thus, if a Muslim overcomes the bad thoughts and expresses satisfaction and happiness about good deeds, he prospers. And if one seeks refuge in Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) from the satanic whispers and thoughts while rejecting the satanic whispers and thoughts, he is saved from sins.

And if he is unaware of the satanic whispers, and accepts them, then these whispers involve him into sins.

Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) . Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
[Surah Fus’silat: 36]

And Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) has clearly commanded us in Surah An-Naas and Surah Al-Falaq to seek refuge from the enemy.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Verily, Satan is lying in wait over the heart of the son of Adam. If he remembers Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), Satan retreats. If he forgets Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), Satan will devour his heart; that is the ‘whisperer who retreats.’”
(Musnad AbiYa’la)

Therefore, in order to be protected from sins, one must be protected from evil temptations.

Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

And do not approach immoralities – what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason.
[Surah Al-An’aam: 151]

The way to abstain of these sins is to evaluate them at initial stage.

Consequently, he who does self-reckoning will have more good deeds and less sins, and will leave the world in a praiseworthy manner. And will be raised with happiness, and he will be there with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who was sent as a witness. And whoever follows his own craves, turns away from the Qur’an, and commits sin of his own intend, and is immersed in lust and he committed atrocious sins, entrusted his leadership to the Shaytan, then the Shaytan will involve him in every major sin, eventually he will be with the Shaytan in a painful torment.

Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) said:

And do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect.
[Surah Al-Kahf:28]

May Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) help me and all of you to benefit from the ayaat of the Qur’an and help us to follow the path of the Prophet ﷺ. Concluding this sermon, I ask Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) to forgive my sins and the sins of all Muslims. And all of you should ask for His (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) forgiveness.

Sermon Two:

All praise is due to Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) he who blesses life through Qur’an and who accepts the good deeds and repents sins. I do praise him and be grateful of him, to him I fall back and ask for repentance. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), he all-knowing of unseen. And I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the servant of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) and His Messenger ﷺ. He called upon people towards virtue. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! send Durood and Salaam and shower blessings upon your servant and messenger, Muhammad ﷺ, and upon his descendants, and his companions.

After Hamd-o-Salam: Remain pious to Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) the way it is required. This piousness is treasure for this life and life after-death.

O Servants of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! That heart is alive which devotes himself into the goodness and hates the sin, whereas that heart is slayed which does not feel torment in doing sins and does not feel joy in worship. Subsequently does not even be aware of punishment of sinful acts. Thus, such heart is astray of health and worldly life, even it deludes into that the worldly favors are their privilege; about them Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) says:

أَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُمْ بِهِ مِنْ مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ ۝ نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ بَلْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

“Do they think, since We provide them with wealth and children, [55] that We hasten to ˹honour˺ them ˹with˺ all kinds of good? No! They are not aware.”
[Surah Al-Mu’minun:55-56]

In the hadith of Huzaifa (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ): Temptations will be presented to men’s hearts as reed mat is woven stick by stick and any heart which is impregnated by them will have a black mark put into it, but any heart which rejects them will have a white mark put in it. The result is that there will become two types of hearts: one white like a white stone which will not be harmed by any turmoil or temptation, so long as the heavens and the earth endure; and the other black like a vessel which is upset, not recognizing what is good or rejecting what is abominable, but being impregnated with passion.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “There are four kinds of hearts:

(1) A polished heart as shiny as a radiant lamp
(2) A sealed heart with a knot tied around it
(3) A heart that is turned upside down
(4) A heart that is wrapped

“The parable of faith in this heart is the parable of the herb that is sustained by pure water, and the parable of the hypocrisy in it is the parable of an ulcer that thrives upon puss and blood; whichever of the two is greater will dominate.”

If a person doesn’t reckon himself, then all diseases of the heart lead him to eternal heart disease or perpetual death.

The aspect of precaution and benefit is that man should account of himself every day, night, weekly, monthly, and yearly acts, so that he may know the harmful ways, and repent, as well as make up for the shortcomings. Morally certain that this effort will be appreciated by Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ), and there will be an opportunity for a beautiful departure.

The believer is always vital and insightful, if he gets something, he is thankful, if he commits a sin, he asks for forgiveness and if he is in trouble, he shows patience.

It’s mentioned in a hadith that: The Prophet ﷺ drew a straight line and drew some other on both sides of it. There is a caller at the end of the line. The straight line refers to the “Path of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)” and “the Caller” refers to the “Book of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)”, and above it, there is an admonition preacher which is conscience in the heart of every believer, while the right and left lines are the paths of perversity and haraam deeds.

O slaves of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)

Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.
[Surah Al-Ahzab:56]

The Prophet ﷺ said: “He who blesses me once, Allah would bless him ten times.”

Therefore, send blessings and prayers upon Him.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Take care of the affairs of every Muslim man and woman, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Take care of the affairs of every Muslim man and woman.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Protect all Muslims from the wicked people, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Protect us and all Muslims from the evil of nafs and evil deeds and protect us from evil of every wicked person. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Protect us and our children from Satan and Satan’s followers and Satan’s armies, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Lord of the worlds. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Protect us and our children from Satan and Satan’s followers and Satan’s armies, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! We ask You to manifest the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ in the whole world through Your mercy. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Take away the troubles that befall upon Muslims, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! End the torment that befell upon Muslims, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Have mercy on Muslims, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Have mercy on the Ummah of the Prophetﷺ.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! End the atrocities against Muslims in Syria. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Lord of the worlds. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Manifest them against tyrants. You are indeed competent over all things. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Protect our country in every way, O Lord of the Worlds! O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Grant us peace in our lands, and reform our rulers, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Protect our country from all kinds of evil and calamity. Indeed, you are over all things competent.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Help your servant, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to do what You like, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Guide him according to your will, and accept all his deeds, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Encourage both of his successors to do every good deed, and bless them in their age of righteousness and piety. Verily, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Guide them as you want.

O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Forgive all Muslims who have died, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Heal all Muslim patients, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Heal all Muslim patients, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Heal all Muslim patients. O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Reform the whole Muslim youth in all-around the world, O Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)! Make us one of those who obey You, and stay away from your disobedience. Indeed, you are over all things competent.

(Aameen)

O slaves of Allah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ)!

Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allah, over you, a witness. Indeed, Allah knows what you do.
[Surah An-Nahal: 90-91]
